Role summary
An enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Support Worker is sought to join the Community Respiratory Service at Breathing Space. This role involves supporting clinical assessments, pulmonary rehabilitation, and patient care within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work independently in patient homes and community settings, helping patients manage respiratory conditions and maximise their independence. NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is essential.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting clinical assessments and pulmonary rehabilitation, including recording observations.
- Recognising and escalating abnormal observations or signs of deterioration to senior colleagues.
- Supporting patients with complex respiratory needs, using empathy, encouragement and effective communication.
- Working independently, including lone working in patients' homes and community settings.
- Safely using, maintaining and monitoring clinical and exercise equipment, and completing accurate patient records.
- Supporting and motivating patients in an exercise-based environment, often working with people experiencing breathlessness, anxiety and complex or advanced respiratory conditions.

- Demonstrate an understanding of Physio & Occupational Therapy.
- Be able to access information and input data.
- Experience of working in a rehabilitation / enabling environment.
- Experience of working in clients home environment.
- Experience of working within a multi agency / multidisciplinary setting.
- Experience of working with respiratory patients.
- Be able to demonstrate learning to a minimum level equivalent to a collage NVQ Level 3 in a related field (i.e. Health and Social Care) or possess equivalent experience
- Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently between TRFT sites and for patient visits in the Rotherham area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
- Have undertaken a recognised exercise qualification to enable class taking, gym and outdoor work. An exercise qualification such as BAWLA or equivalent experience.
- Have undertaken training relating to carrying out programmes of care designed by professional staff.

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Support Worker to join our friendly and supportive therapy team within the Community Respiratory Service at Breathing Space.
The post is 33.45 hours over five days, with a working pattern of 8:30am4:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 8:30am12:15pm on Wednesday.
You will play an important role within our multidisciplinary team, working with and alongside Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and nursing colleagues across the wider Community Respiratory Service.
The role offers a varied and rewarding workload, including pulmonary rehabilitation, assessment clinics, observation clinics, venepuncture and home visits, providing opportunities to support patients at different stages of their respiratory care.
Our aim is to maximise patients independence, function and confidence in managing their respiratory conditions, while supporting them to remain active and engaged in their own health and wellbeing.
NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is essential. Please also refer to the Personal Specification within the job description.
Experience of working within community or acute hospital therapy teams would be desirable.
