Role summary
The Shrewsbury South Community Nursing Team is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Community Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to provide clinical care to patients in their own homes. The role involves visiting patients, delivering skilled clinical support without direct supervision, and managing clinical risk within a delegated patient caseload. The successful candidate will undertake an in-house development program for extended skills, including insulin administration, injections, and wound care. Good communication skills and a passion for caring for patients in their homes are essential.
Essential criteria
- Good general level of education (to include Maths and English)
- Equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3
- Completion of the Care Certificate
- Awareness of the role of the Healthcare Support Worker
- Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of the role of the health care assistant role in context, including phlebotomy and wound care, and other clinical skills relevant to role
- Awareness of accountability issues e.g. confidentiality
- Knowledge of situations and circumstances that can impact on patient safety and demonstrate understanding of how the healthcare support worker contributes to maintaining patient safety
- The ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff both written and orally and demonstrate a level of English language and grammar commensurate with writing in service user case notes
- Other
- Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post.
