Role summary
This role is for an autonomous Enhanced Nurse Practitioner in a fast-paced NHS Minor Injury Unit. The practitioner will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with primary care conditions, working closely with the Emergency Department team. Responsibilities include managing a personal workload, supporting the clinical manager, and contributing to quality and service improvement. The role involves monitoring and auditing clinical standards of care.
Key responsibilities
- Work as an autonomous, independent practitioner.
- Provide a holistic approach to individuals including: assessment, diagnosis, treatment and safe discharge and referral to other agencies if necessary.
- Be responsible for his/her own workload within the designated clinical area.
- Assess and treat patients on a day to day basis.
- Deputise for and support the clinical manager in his/her absence.
- Play a proactive role in quality and service improvement and work closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager & Clinical Matron.
- Be responsible for the monitoring and auditing of clinical standards of care within the defined area.

Job summary
The NHS Minor Injury Unit is a nurse led service, delivering work in a fast-paced busy environment. Practitioners provide assessments diagnosis and treatment to patients presenting with a wide variety of primary care conditions. Working closely with the Emergency Department. The MIU is under the management of the Emergency Department team at the Royal Devon and Exeter (Wonford) Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
