Role summary
This role is for a Lead Mental Health Practitioner working across GP practices within Kings Lynn Primary Care Network. The post involves delivering non-urgent mental health assessments and brief interventions for patients aged 16 and over, experiencing various mental health difficulties. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary care team, providing support in a familiar GP setting. The aim is to ensure timely access to mental health support and promote recovery and wellbeing within local communities.
Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with the relevant professional registration.
- Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor training (NMC Registrants) or Practice Educator (AHP Social Worker Registrants)
- Ongoing Professional Development working towards degree level (if professional registration is following a diploma level course)
- Competent assessment skills
- Computer skills and experience of using Electronic Patient Record System
- Effective analytical and decision-making skills
- Care planning and risk assessment knowledge and skills

- Able to time manage and reflect on clinical practice.
- Prevention and Management of Suicide training
- Ensure care is values-based, nonjudgemental and equitable, and supports the principles of equality, diversity and inclusivity being met.
- Have the ability to discuss, identify and escalate safeguarding issues in a sensitive way to protect those who are vulnerable.
- Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge of mental health practice from previous experiencerom previous experience
- Experience of managing a caseload and the provision of Mental Health Care services to people with mental health care needs.
- Experience in the delivery of clinical interventions.
- Experience in delivering group-based interventions.

Job summary
We are recruiting a Primary Care Based Lead Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) working across GP practices within Kings Lynn PCN in West Norfolk.
This is a jointly funded role through the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS), supporting NSFT and Primary Care to deliver Place-Based Care. The post enables people to access timely mental health support in the familiar surroundings of their GP practice, helping ensure they receive the right support at the right time.
You will be embedded within GP practices and work as part of a multidisciplinary primary care team, delivering non-urgent mental health assessment and brief interventions for patients 16+ experiencing a range of mental health difficulties.
Main duties of the job
Expectations of the role:
- Provide assessments, brief interventions and short-term support for people aged 16+
- Support individuals with presentations including anxiety, depression, trauma-related distress, bipolar disorder, psychosis and other mental health needs
- Deliver psychoeducation, problem-solving approaches, safety planning and self-management strategies
- Work collaboratively with GP practice staff and local services to ensure people are directed to the most appropria
