Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the radiology workforce at Velindre Cancer Centre as a Band 6 Diagnostic Radiographer. You will work within a small, friendly department providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services, including MRI, CT, and Digital Radiography, for oncology patients. The role involves performing a range of radiographic examinations, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Previous experience in MRI, CT, and Digital Radiography is essential.
Key responsibilities
- Have excellent knowledge of radiographic techniques, procedures, anatomy, physiology, and pathology, specifically in Oncology.
- Be competent in multiple imaging modalities with annual assessment.
- Perform a range of radiographic examinations to produce high-quality images while ensuring low radiation dose.
- Provide support and reassurance to patients, considering their physical and psychological needs.
- Work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient service.
- Recognise clinically significant conditions and signs of deterioration, escalating where necessary.
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) or Diploma of the college of Radiographers: Diagnostic Radiography
- Post qualification CT Experience
- Post qualification MRI Experience
- Current NHS experience
- Cannulation trained
- RadIS / PACS competent
- Understand of duties and responsibilities under IR(ME)R 17 and IRR 17
- HCPC registered
- Senior radiographer experience
Desirable criteria
- Post Grad qualification in Radiology/ Management/ Healthcare or related subject
- Welsh Speaker (Level 1 +)
- Working with oncology patients
- Teaching / management of junior staff

Job summary
Velindre Cancer Centre is a purpose built hospital, providing world class cancer care to the people of South East Wales. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our radiology workforce in this widely respected Cancer service, to work within a team of diagnostic Radiographers for the provision of a high quality and diverse range of radio diagnostic imaging services for patients attending Velindre Cancer Centre.
As a Band 6 Diagnostic Radiographer in Velindre Radiology, you will have the opportunity to work in a small and friendly department and participate in major imaging modalities including MRI, CT and Digital Radiography. Previous experience at working in MRI or CT and Digital radiography is essential.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
