Role summary
This role involves joining the Children's Continuing Care Team to support children and young people with complex medical needs in their homes and schools. You will provide direct clinical care, potentially including overnight care or support in educational settings. The position requires a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable individual passionate about delivering high-quality care. Following comprehensive training, you will work independently as a lone practitioner within the community, supported by an experienced team.
Key responsibilities
- Provide skilled high-quality care to children and young people with complex medical needs in home or community settings.
- Carry out personal care and delegated clinical tasks, supporting children with complex health needs and those dependent on technology.
- Follow individualised care plans developed by the nursing team, after gaining competency through training and with guidance from registered nurses.
Essential criteria
- One of the following: NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, Childcare or equivalent.
- NNEB
- Experience equivalent to the above qualifications
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Math's or equivalent
- Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Health Care Support Worker), or
- Equivalent experience together with Level 2 qualification in childcare, Health and Social Care or equivalent and working towards Level 3
- Demonstrate the ability to work without direct supervision once trained and deemed competent to provide delegated clinical skills.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with children and young people with special needs
- Experience of team working
- Experience of working variable shift patterns to include nightshifts
