Role summary
This role involves working as a Community Nursery Nurse within the Barnet 0-19 Service, which is part of Whittington Health. You will join Health Visiting teams across various sites in Barnet, delivering key aspects of the Healthy Child Programme and supporting families with infant feeding and child development. The position requires effective communication skills, good IT skills, and a commitment to improving health outcomes for children. You will work under the delegation of a Health Visitor/Team Leader, contributing to a safe and effective Universal Health Provision.
Key responsibilities
- Support the development of well-functioning integrated teams and ensure adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
- Work closely with Health Visiting teams to plan and deliver health promotion activities and meet specific health needs of children and families.
- Provide information, refer as appropriate, and liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies.
- Carry out ASQs/health reviews on children at 1 and 2 years, monitor children with identified needs, and manage a caseload of children with SEND under supervision.
- Support vulnerable children, young people, and families, undertaking identified work with Universal Plus and Partnership Plus families.
- Participate in multi-agency working, develop links with community groups, and support the management of well baby clinics.
Essential criteria
- One of the following-NNEB, Diploma in Childcare and Education, Level 3 BTEC in Early years, NVQ Level 3 in Early years and Education
- Experience working in the community and/or with children and families
- Experience working within a Health Visiting team
- Excellent communication skills: IT, written and oral
- Willingness to support management of change.
- Knowledge of current legislation and national guidance.
- Ability to apply research to practice.
- Understanding of the safeguarding process and child protection procedures, clinical governance arrangements and the ability to make decisions in these areas.
- Ability to set personal objectives, and manage time, priorities and stressful situationsA/I
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- Commitment to the development of excellent services, which focus on improved outcomes for children.
- Awareness of Equal Opportunities and Valuing Diversity
- Knowledge of infection control standards.
- Able to travel to homes and clinics across Barnet
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working in a Health Visiting team
- High levels of clinical skills, with the ability to identify, respond to and evaluate health needs.
- Ability to delegate work appropriately and safely.
- Car driver with full license
