Role summary
This role is for a Bank Therapy Assistant at Dorset County Hospital, working across various specialities and sites. The successful applicant will assist Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams in patient rehabilitation, discharge planning, and administrative duties. Key responsibilities
- Assist in treating a wide variety of clinical conditions.
- Work alongside Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, delivering rehabilitation.
- Assist in the safe and timely discharge of patients and with classes as necessary.
- Assist in the administration and clerical duties for the team and Department.
- Participate in week-end, bank holiday and extended working rotas once competent.
Essential criteria
- Good level of education to GCSE level, including Maths & English (Grade C/equivalent or above.)
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level in healthcare or be willing to work towards
- To be able to drive a car
- Relevant experience (minimum 1 year) of working as a therapy/nursing assistant or similar post
- Experience of working with direct contact with the public.
- To have ability to work on own initiative and to be confident to work without direct supervision
- To have ability to learn new skills to deliver patient care as instructed by qualified members of staff
- To be able to work within the multidisciplinary team
- To be able to prioritise own workload
- To be aware of own limitations
Desirable criteria
- To partake in data collection
- Experience with IT systems
- Ability to compete allocated projects and meet deadlines

Job summary
Dorset County Hospital are recruiting Band 3 Therapy assistant bank workers. This opportunity is ideal for experienced NHS trained individuals or undergraduate physiotherapy/occupational therapy students living in the Dorchester and surrounding Dorset area who are looking to gain valuable clinical experience, develop their therapy skills across a variety of specialties, and enjoy the flexibility of bank working.
Dorset County Hospital therapy department covers different specialities across multiple sites including; Dorset County Hospital, Yeatman Hospital and out-patient sites at Weymouth Community Hospital and Charlton Down Out-patient Therapy Centre. The post holder may be required to work at any of the sites within the Trust.
