Role summary
This role is for a motivated Band 6 Neonatal Nurse to join the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust team. It involves providing safe, effective, and efficient management within the neonatal department and promoting continuous improvement in patient care. The successful candidate will regularly undertake delegated responsibility in the absence of NNU Sisters and Unit Manager. Full training and support are provided, offering an opportunity to develop expertise and leadership skills in neonatal care.
Key responsibilities
- To be a clinical expert within the speciality, offering all aspects of nursing care at intensive, high dependency and special care levels.
- To ensure the provision of excellent, evidence-based care for infants and their families.
- Ensure that each infant is assessed, their care is planned, implemented and evaluated in negotiation with the family, and that this is accurately documented.
- Promote Family Centred Care and ensure the provision of a welcoming, caring and safe environment for the infants and their families.
- To act as an advocate for the infant and family, ensuring the provision of appropriate information and support services.
Essential criteria
- Qualified in speciality course
- NMC registration
- Degree in nursing
- Experience working on a neonatal unit
- Evidence of audit/quality improvement
Desirable criteria
- Mentorship qualification
- NLS instructor
- Manager and leadership qualification
- Experience of management and leadership
