Role summary
This is an opportunity for an experienced midwife to become a Lead Midwife for Labour Ward at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Midwife
- BSc in Midwifery
- Evidence of professional development
- Assessor/mentorship course or equivalent ALSO/NALS/MOET course
- Awareness and understanding of current national and local midwifery issues.
- Demonstrate a desire to improve standards
- Knowledge of clinical governance and risk management
- Understand systems of team approach in midwifery
- Understanding of change management process.
- Extensive post registration clinical experience
- Experience of working in both hospital and community settings
- Experience of line management duties
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Teaching skills
- Ability to be objective when assessing staff
- Ability to give and receive feedback
Desirable criteria
- Masters in Midwifery, or evidence of working towards
- Professional Midwifery Advocate
- Managerial/Leadership qualifications and / or experience
- Experience of implementing change management projects
- Management of people
- Experience of coordinating a labour ward
- Examination and assessment of the newborn
- Experienced in managing groups
- HDU trained
