Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and adaptable Band 5 Senior Pharmacy Technician specializing in Patient Services (Outpatient) at Barnet Hospital. The post holder will coordinate dispensary staff and workflow, provide medicines management services at ward level, and support outpatient pharmacists in issuing medicines and patient counselling. Key responsibilities include checking outpatient prescriptions, coordinating medicine supply, and overseeing the day-to-day running of the outpatient pharmacy. The role also involves training and staff development, including line management of pharmacy support workers and acting as an Educational/Practice Supervisor.
Essential criteria
- BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences and NVQ Pharmacy services Level 3 or equivalent
- Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) or willing to work toward this
- Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician

- NVQ A1 workplace assessor award or equivalent or working towards

This post is based on Barnet Hospital of the Royal Free Hospital Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and adaptable Pharmacy Technician with good communication and interpersonal skills to take on this challenging post. Your role will involve working with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and other health care professionals on providing Medicines Management services at ward level.
The post holder will support the outpatient pharmacists to issue out medicines our patients as per trust's policies. You will support the day-to-day coordination of the outpatient pharmacy by checking medicines for outpatient prescriptions, patient counselling and co-ordination of the supply of medicines to our patients.
You will be an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT). You must have evidence of registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and have good post qualification experience working as a Pharmacy Technician within an NHS Hospital Pharmacy or a community pharmacy.
