Role summary
This role involves supervising the Portering service at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, ensuring efficient operations and staff management. Key responsibilities
- Provide effective, efficient supervision for the provision of the Portering service.
- Organise relief cover during periods of staff absence to maintain service standards.
- Receive requests for Portering assistance and delegate staff to carry out duties.
- Ensure IPDR & Mandatory Training is current and up to date for staff.
- Supervise the day-to-day operation of Portering requirements of the Hospital.
- Assist the Facilities Manager & Senior Supervisor with service development within budget.
Essential criteria
- Able to read and write. Basic Education to GCSE Grade 4 English and Mathematics
- Demonstrable experience is advantageous
- QCF Level 2 or willingness to work towards or relevant experience
- Desirable to have some experience of working in service industry
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Able to demonstrate basic knowledge of Health & Safety
- Knowledge of NHS Portering standards
- Hospital practices
- Demonstrate effective communication skill both verbally and written
- Demonstrable Supervisory Experience
- Able to support problem solving processes

Responsible for the supervision of the Portering service within Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and to organise relief cover during periods of staff absence to ensure the standard of Portering service is maintained.
