Role summary
This is a Trainee Advanced Practitioner role in the Emergency Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead. The post is for an initial 3-year fixed term at Band 7, during which the successful candidate will complete an advanced practice qualification. Upon completion, the role will transition to a substantive AP post at Band 8a. The position involves working autonomously under supervision to plan and deliver care for a diverse range of patients in the ED, including paediatrics and adults with various conditions.
Essential criteria
- RN, current NMC registration or Paramedic or Allied Health Professional with a Registered Professional qualification
- Relevant degree
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
- Clinical skills course (Level 7)
- ALS or APLS provider status
- A teaching qualification

This is an exciting time to join the existing AP team in the Emergency Department here at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead and we are looking for a Trainee Advanced Practitioner who is able to complement our existing team.

This post is for an initial 3 year period at band 7 while a qualification in advanced practice is completed, at which point the postholder would transition into a substantive AP post at band 8a.
Main duties of the job
To work autonomously but with close supervision in the planning and delivery of care and interventions of patients attending the Emergency Department including paediatrics and adults with specialities which include but are not limited to - trauma, resuscitation, mental health, medical, surgical, gynaecological and Minor Illness / Injury presentations.
To continuously improve clinical care standards in line with the clinical governance frameworkto ensure the highest quality of care is provide in the safest manner
