Role summary
This role involves providing CAMHS assessment and therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and their families experiencing severe, complex, and enduring psychological, emotional, and mental health difficulties. The post holder will work within a community-based service in North Powys, engaging with clients in clinic and home settings. The position requires working intensively and flexibly to reduce hospital admissions and support discharge. It also involves consultation with clients, families, team members, and other professionals.
Essential criteria
- Nursing qualification (RMN) (RMNLD) or (RSCN) or School Nursing Qualification, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker
- Specialist training/ experience in working within CAMHS or in a setting with children experiencing Mental Health, emotional Health or Behavioural difficulties
Desirable criteria
- Specialist knowledge / training / experience in mental health difficulties in children and adolescents
- Capacity to interact therapeutically with children and young people with mental health difficulties
- Expertise and specialist skills in working with complex cases
- Knowledge and understanding of NICE guidelines
- Safeguarding policies, risk management and identifying areas of risk
- Knowledge of fair access and non-discriminatory practice
- An understanding of the skills needed to provide clinical supervision and some experience of delivering supervision and consultation
- Significant post registration experience of working with children and adolescents with severe and complex mental health problems
- Significant experience in a psychological therapy, e.g. Family Therapy, CBT, SFBT implementing evidencebased treatment plans and packages of care within a recognised therapeutic framework
- Capacity to engage with and build therapeutic relationships with children and young people
- Experience/skills in risk assessment and risk management planning
- Able to use initiative and prioritise own workload
- Post registration experience of working therapeutically with children and adolescents who are suffering from severe and enduring mental health problems
- Ability to provide consultation and supervision to other professionals

Job summary
The post holder will work within a Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service, providing CAMHS assessment and therapeutic services to children, adolescents and their families who have been referred from within the existing service. Clients will be experiencing severe, complex and enduring psychological, emotional and mental health difficulties.
