Role summary
This role is for a Band 6 Clinical Sister/Charge Nurse responsible for leading shifts and ensuring safe, effective patient care. You will support and develop staff, maintain high clinical standards, and work with the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent outcomes for older patients. The position involves clinical leadership, daily ward coordination, and supporting the Ward Manager in various aspects of ward management and performance.
Key responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and coordinate the daily running of the ward.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with complex needs.
- Lead and manage staff during shifts, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
- Support the Ward Manager with workforce matters including staffing levels, sickness management, appraisals, and complaints.
- Promote patient safety, clinical governance, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Act as a mentor and support staff development, supervision, competency assessment, and appraisal processes.
Essential criteria
- oCurrent Professional NMC Registration oStudy at level 6 (Degree/Diploma) oEvidence of continuous professional development oTeaching and Assessing qualification or willingness to undertake
- oProfessional clinical experience in appropriate speciality. oAbility to successfully manage people and change
- oA knowledgeable clinician with the ability to apply evidence-based practice. oA sound knowledge of professional policies and procedures oKnowledge of clinical governance commitment to clinical supervision and staff development
- oIT skills oPatient focused. oExcellent communication skills oAble to prioritize and meet deadlines effectively. oGood management of own and others time oAble to use initiative and make decisions. oAnalyses problems and implements effective and appropriate solutions
