Role summary
This role is for a Part-time Band 6 Specialist Community Neuro Physiotherapist to join the Community Therapy Team in Guildford and Waverley, based at Milford Hospital. The post holder will assess and treat patients with a wide range of complex neurological impairments in their homes, clinics, or via remote consultations. They will manage their own caseload, contribute to service development, and work closely with a multidisciplinary team. The role requires a car driver and flexibility.
Key responsibilities
- Manage own caseload and deal with referrals in line with departmental policy.
- Conduct timely holistic neuro therapy assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation in various settings.
- Formulate SMART goals with patients and their families, ensuring patient-centred decision making.
- Carry out a variety of neurological treatment techniques, including spasticity management, falls prevention, and postural management.
- Educate patients and their families/carers about their condition and its impact.
- Communicate effectively with the wider multidisciplinary team and participate in continuing professional development.
Essential criteria
- Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy e.g. BSc Hons degree in Physiotherapy by recognised awarding body e.g. Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
- Must satisfy the criteria for full membership of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Knowledge of the role of Physiotherapy for people with a wide range of neurological conditions.
- Able to assess for and fit basic equipment to facilitate independence at home.
- Previous experience in Neurological rehabilitation
- Knowledge of relevant NHS and SS legislation
- Experience in spasticity management
Desirable criteria
- An approved Physiotherapist supervisor for Physiotherapy
- Post graduate qualification/study or equivalent experience e.g. MSc module, Bobath course
- Experience of working in a community setting.
- Able to assess for and fit complex equipment and teach patient/carer in the safe use of these.
- Experience with community/mental health conditions
- Experience in the review and provision of lower limb orthotics and/or Functional Electrical Stimulation
- Experience in postural management

Are you a specialist neurological physiotherapist or an experienced Band 5 Physiotherapist looking to progress and build further knowledge and skills in Neuro Rehabilitation?We are looking to recruit a Part Time Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Community Therapy Team in Guildford and Waverley. Based at Milford Hospital, with a satellite office in Guildford, we are a friendly and experienced team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants. You will be working in our neuro stream and supported with regular clinical supervision and in service training from Clinical Specialists. You will assess and treat people in their own homes, out-patient clinics and using telephone and video calls, and will manage your own caseload of patients. You must be well organised and an excellent communicator and be willing to work flexibly. Remote working is part of this role, you will require a willingness to learn to use IT applications to carry out this job effectively. It is essential that you are a car driver and can travel independently between sites and to patient's homes.
