Role summary

Join the Amazon Children's Ward and Jungle Assessment Unit at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust as a Paediatric Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse. You will deliver comprehensive physical, social, and emotional care for children and adolescents, advocating for their needs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Key responsibilities

  • Deliver and evaluate comprehensive physical, social, and emotional care for children and adolescents in alignment with evidence-based practice, policies, and the NMC Code of Practice.
  • Foster a supportive environment that values high-quality nursing care.
  • Act as an advocate for children receiving care, ensuring their needs and rights are prioritized.
  • Collaborate with nursing and multidisciplinary teams to plan and deliver effective care.

Essential criteria

  • RSCN/RN Child with NMC Registration
  • Minimum of 5 years experience within speciality / acute care area
  • Post registration qualification or course evidence in High Dependency Care level 1 and or 2 relevant to clinical speciality
  • Mentorship module or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Expert clinical role model who is committed to improvement of standards and patient care
  • Uses evidence base practice to support patient care delivery
  • Experience of managing teams
  • Evidence of being a Reflective Practitioner
  • Understanding of Healthcare Governance and its application
  • Demonstration of autonomous practice
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Experience of caring for children and young people within a Paediatric High Dependency or PICU environment
  • Previous management experience

Desirable criteria

  • Leadership Course
  • PILS/ALS trained
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Management qualification
  • Post registration qualification relevant to clinical speciality
  • Completed or undertaking a first level degree in Nursing/ Health Studies

About Us Located on the Peterborough City Hospital site, our units are dedicated to delivering the very highest standards of care to children aged 0-18 years. With 30 inpatient beds , including 12 en-suite cubicles, a 2-bedded HDU area, and 4 four-bedded bays, we're equipped to manage a wide range of general paediatric conditions. Additionally, our Day Surgery/Day Care Unit caters to up to 12 surgical patients daily.

Our Jungle Paediatric Assessment Unit supports up to 16 patients , providing a seamless journey for children referred by GPs, other health professionals, or from the Emergency Department.
