Role summary
This is a Band 6 Rotational Occupational Therapist position within the Neuro Rehabilitation Service, offering rotations across various settings including community, inpatient, and acute stroke units in Lambeth and Southwark. The role involves providing high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation for patients with neurological conditions. You will manage a complex caseload, assess and treat individuals, and contribute to service improvement initiatives. The position is suitable for an experienced Band 5 or current Band 6 OT with a keen interest in neuro rehabilitation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a specialist Occupational Therapy service as part of the Neuro Rehab Service, ensuring a coordinated approach to client care.
- Independently and effectively manage a caseload of individuals with complex neurological needs.
- Use evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- Work collaboratively with individuals, carers, MDT members, and external agencies.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records and provide statistical data.
- Contribute to the planning, organisation, and delivery of training for staff and students.
Essential criteria
- Graduate Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
- State registration with HCPC
- Significant broad based post registration experience at B5 level or above
- Experience of a variety of clinical specialties including neurological and stroke rehabilitation
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
- Knowledge, understanding and application of Occupational Therapy process relating to client-centred practice
- Demonstrable skills in assessment/treatment & rehab of individuals with neurological and other complex conditions
- Good IT skills
- Knowledge and use of relevant assessment tools and outcome measures
- Ability to work with a diverse workforce to deliver a quality service to people from different backgrounds by including and embracing their varied needs
- Good organisational, delegation, time management and prioritisation skills
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical governance and evidence based practice
- Fit for active, physical workload and resilient under reasonable pressure at work
- Able to travel around Southwark and Lambeth boroughs with equipment and mobile devices
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of attendance of relevant post registration courses
- Member of relevant Specialist Interest Group
- Knowledge of current policies and publications relevant to neurological conditions
- Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists
- Experience of working within a community setting
- Participation in service development or project work
- Experience of working within a ward based rehabilitation setting
- Able to supervise junior staff and support workers & students
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the implications of neurological conditions on people's lives
- Ability to work innovatively in order to integrate interventions into the individual's home, work or educational environment

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated & holistic Occupational Therapist to join our Band 6 Neuro Rehab Service rotation. The Neuro Rehab Service consists of the following rotations:
Southwark Community Stroke Team
Southwark Neuro Rehab Team
Lambeth Neuro Rehab Team
Inpatient Neuro Rehab Unit (2b)
Acute Stroke Unit - St Thomas' Hospital
We are looking for therapists with experience & a keen interest in neurological rehabilitation to provide high quality, person-centred and goal-orientated rehabilitation for patients in the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. We have several working bases across Brixton, Bermondsey & Oval as well as in-patient bases in Brixton & St Thomas' Hospital.You have the opportunity to rotate every 9 months & gain experience across acute care, in-patient rehabilitation & community rehabilitation.
We are a multi-disciplinary service consisting of Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Rehab Assistants, Clinical Psychologists, Rehab Consultant & Social Workers.
