Role summary

This role involves providing operational leadership for a portfolio of cardiovascular and heart valve research studies within the Cardiology Research team. The post holder will manage studies from feasibility to close-out, ensuring compliance with governance frameworks and integrating digital health. It requires an experienced research professional passionate about innovation in cardiovascular research delivery, working closely with various medical and academic collaborators.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead on, conduct and deliver patient research visits including scheduling, related comms and data management.
  • Prepare and manage IRAS submissions, REC applications and substantial amendments.
  • Support SoECAT and AcoRD processes in collaboration with R&D and finance teams.
  • Maintain study timelines, recruitment projections, risk registers and performance dashboards.
  • Oversee Investigator Site Files and ensuring audit readiness.
  • Support cardiovascular imaging dataset governance and secure data transfer processes.

Essential criteria

  • MSc in Digital Health, Clinical Research or related healthcare discipline
  • Degree in healthcare or biomedical sciences
  • ICH-GCP certification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Significant experience in NHS clinical research delivery
  • Experience coordinating cardiology or cardiovascular research studies
  • Experience managing CTIMPs and/or device trials
  • Experience with IRAS, REC and NHS R&D governance processes
  • Experience in grant writing and funding submission
  • Experience preparing for monitoring visits and audits
  • Experience supporting imaging-based or data-driven research
  • Strong understanding of heart valve disease pathways
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular imaging research governance
  • Detailed understanding of UK research governance frameworks
  • Knowledge of SoECAT and AcoRD cost attribution
  • Understanding of GDPR and NHS data governance processes
  • Knowledge of health information systems and digital healthcare transformation

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Research Support Project Manager to join the Cardiology Research team at Barts Health NHS Trust. This role will support delivery of a dynamic portfolio of cardiovascular and heart valve research studies, including structural heart, imaging, device and CTIMP trials.The post holder will provide operational leadership across the full research lifecycle - from feasibility and study set-up to close-out - ensuring compliance with ICH-GCP, MHRA and Trust governance frameworks. With a strong emphasis on digital health integration, data governance and imaging research oversight, this role is ideal for an experienced research professional passionate about innovation in cardiovascular research delivery.You will work closely with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, imaging specialists, research nurses and academic collaborators to ensure high-quality, efficient and compliant study management within a large acute NHS Trust setting.
