Role summary
This role is for an experienced MRI Radiographer to join the MRI team at Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will deliver a high-quality, patient-centred MRI service for both adult and paediatric patients, with a focus on cardiac MRI. It involves working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to service development. The role requires participation in extended-day, weekend, and on-call rotas.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver a comprehensive MRI service for both adult and paediatric patients, producing high-quality diagnostic images.
- Maintain excellent technical and clinical standards within MRI practice, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Work collaboratively with radiographers, radiologists, medical physics teams, ward staff and other multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Participate in the development of MRI services, contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
- Administer contrast agents and undertake IV cannulation in line with departmental protocols.
- Support and supervise student radiographers and act as a role model for professional practice.
Essential criteria
- Must hold the Diploma of the Society of Radiographers DCR(R) or BSc Radiography or equivalent
- Relevant qualification or training and specialist experience in their Modality e.g. Post Graduate Certificate or equivalent management course or working towards it.
- Must hold a current Health Professions Council (HCPC) Registration Certificate
- Must have an understanding of relevant Health & Safety at work and Welfare issues, including the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017
- Must have evidence of completed and planned Continued Professional Development
- Exercise independent judgement and initiative based on acquired experience and knowledge
- IV cannulation skills
- Team member - able to assist radiographers/advanced radiographers with weekend/extended day working.
- Able to show initiative
- Excellent IT skills
- Self-motivated - skilled in time management/prioritisation
- Experience of working in MRI with an in depth understanding and a sound knowledge of techniques
- Experience of team working
- Experience of working in the field of adult and/ or paediatric cardiology
- Experience of working in the NHS
