Role summary

This role is for a Clinical Technologist/Radiographer to join the Nuclear Medicine service within South Glasgow, based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and New Victoria Hospital. The successful candidate will deliver a wide range of diagnostic, imaging, non-imaging, and therapeutic nuclear medicine services. Key duties include performing diagnostic imaging studies, supporting neurology and bone densitometry, and administering radioisotopes. The position is full-time, 36 hours per week, and permanent.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging studies, including SPECT-CT.
  • Support neurology imaging and bone densitometry services.
  • Undertake non-imaging investigations and therapeutic administrations of radioisotopes.
  • Carry out routine performance and quality control procedures.
  • Process, manage and analyse acquired patient data.
  • Act as an operator under IR(ME)R regulations.
  • Cannulate patients and administer radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary Nuclear Medicine team.
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across a varied workload.

Essential criteria

  • Relevant science, technology or radiography qualification, such as:
  • BSc (e.g. Physics or related subject)
  • Honours BSc in Radiography
  • Alternatively, an HNC, ONC or DCR qualification with a knowledge profile equivalent to an Honours BSc.

Desirable criteria

  • Registration with the Register for Clinical Technologists (RCT) or HCPC.
  • Experience within a healthcare environment.
  • Background in medical technology, physics or radiography.
