Role summary

This Junior Sister role supports the Senior Sister in leading a team of nurses in Multi-Speciality Outpatient clinics, ensuring high standards of patient care and adherence to the NMC code of conduct. The post holder will provide individualised patient care, assist in operational management, and act as a clinical expert. They must be a registered nurse with dermatology experience, capable of autonomous work and clinical decision-making. The role requires strong concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Essential criteria

  • NMC 1st Level Registration qualification
  • Degree-level professional qualification or equivalent professional knowledge
  • Evidence of post-registration professional development
  • Additional post-registration and/or postgraduate specialist training
  • Teaching qualification
  • Ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and attendance at relevant short courses

Desirable criteria

  • A management or leadership qualification
  • Preceptorship/mentorship training
  • Light therapy qualification
  • Specialist knowledge gained through a combination of formal training, education and practical experience
  • Extensive clinical experience within healthcare settings
  • Day-to-day operational management experience
  • Experience leading, coordinating and supporting clinical teams
  • Proven mentorship, supervision and staff development skills
  • Ability to apply professional expertise to service delivery, workforce management and patient care
  • Strong leadership and clinical decision-making skills developed through managing services and teams
  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates sound understanding of personal accountability
  • Time management and prioritisation skills
  • Shows initiative, able to think positively and stimulate a productive team climate
  • Works well under pressure

Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Senior Sister in providing effective nursing leadership supporting a team of nurses working across a wide area of Multi-Speciality Outpatient clinics ensuring the NMC code of conduct is at the forefront of the team's nursing care. In addition, the post holder will be required to work closely with the multi-disciplinary team in the provision of a high standard of individualised patient care, thus improving the patient experience. The position supports a clinical role in addition to assisting in the management of operational issues. The post will incorporate the provision of care to patients, their families, and carers in accordance with the philosophy and standards of care within the clinical area; in line with Trust policies and procedures, ensuring that values and beliefs are upheld. The post holder must be a registered nurse with dermatology experience. The post holder must be able to work autonomously, and make clinical decisions, based upon this experience.
