Role summary
The Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Clinical Technologist or Radiographer at Band 5 to join their Nuclear Medicine Physics service. This role involves contributing to clinical, technical, and quality assurance areas within a busy DXA, non-imaging, and therapy nuclear medicine service. The successful candidate will undertake imaging, non-imaging, and therapy services, provide patient support, and work independently with specialised nuclear medicine equipment. This is a fixed-term post for 6 months.
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent expertise within the area of specialism
- Competent in the use of databases, spreadsheets and word processing
- Ability to deal sympathetically with patients and their relatives
- Understanding of relevant legislation including IRR, IR(ME)R, ARSAC, ADR/CDG & NRW guidance
Desirable criteria
- Radioactive waste management
- Performing nuclear medicine and bone densitometry investigations on patients
- Extensive experience in cannulation and intravenous administration of radiopharmaceuticals; practices safe disposal of sharps

Job summary
The Nuclear Medicine Physics service at the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board currently operates at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) site. We currently provide a busy DXA , non-imaging and therapy nuclear medicine service. We also provide support to the sub-region on a daily basis. We are a friendly team of 17 with plans to expand the service over the next few years.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Clinical Technologist or Radiographer at Band 5 to join our supportive and collaborative team. The successful candidate will contribute to areas including clinical, technical and quality assurance.
THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 6 MONTHS
Main duties of the job
Undertake and deliver imaging, non-imaging and therapy services for all types of patients and in the course of their duties.
Provide patient support, counselling and welfare of patients, including ensuring the correct patient preparation and preparation compliance ahead of complex examinations.
Work independently within their scope of practice using a range of highly specialised patient nuclear medicine equipment. They will learn to differentiate between technical and clinical problems and to liaise with suitably qualified colleagues as required.
