Role summary
This role involves joining a dynamic End of Life Care Team to deliver a comprehensive education programme to healthcare staff. The educator will act as a resource, mentor, and role-model, providing professional leadership and support to foster a learning culture. Key duties include delivering palliative and end-of-life care training, supporting service development, and auditing initiatives. The position requires excellent communication skills and collaboration with various stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver Palliative and EOLC training and education through various methods, including formal presentations.
- Utilise excellent communication skills to build and develop effective communication networks.
- Support the implementation of change and service development within the specialist area.
- Lead staff and facilitate the change process, encouraging innovation and adaptability.
- Audit EOLC initiatives at local and national levels.
- Collaborate with internal and external clinical educators, the ICB, community healthcare team, and hospice development team.
Essential criteria
- Experience of mentoring/supervising learners
- Demonstrable post registration clinical experience in end-of-life care
- Evidence of the ability to work on own initiative and prioritise own workload
- Registered Nurse / AHP with substantial post registration experience in relevant clinical area, including delivery of palliative and end of life care
- oIT literate with experience of using Microsoft Office programmes, MS Teams and the use of EPR systems
- IT literate with experience of using Microsoft Office programmes, MS Teams and interactive teaching software
Desirable criteria
- Teaching Role
- Attended Advanced Communication Skills Training
- Experience of delivering teaching sessions to a variety of audiences in different environments
- Experience and understanding of using audit and research to influence practice
- Experience of implementing change in practice through the provision of training, education and staff engagement.
- Relevant Degree
- Teaching Qualification or working towards
