Role summary
This is a full-time, fixed-term Assistant Psychologist role at the Sheffield Gender Identity Clinic (Porterbrook Clinic) in Sheffield. The post involves supporting the psychology team by co-facilitating group interventions, providing 1:1 psychoeducation, and assisting with service development projects under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist. The role focuses on providing gender-affirming, trauma-informed care to adults with gender incongruence, with an essential interest in neurodivergence. Essential criteria
- Minimum of an upper second class honours degree in Psychology (or equivalent) with GBR
- Eligible for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society (GBR)

- A desire to build a future career as a Clinical Psychologist within the NHS
- Knowledge and skills
- High level communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience of working with relevant client groups (for example those with gender diversity, mental health issues, neurodiversity, physical health issues etc)
- An understanding of some of the needs and difficulties of people who are gender diverse (e.g. via occupational and/or lived experience)
- An understanding of some of the needs and difficulties of people who are neurodiverse (e.g. via occupational and/or lived experience)
- Experience of being an active member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of carrying out service development work (audits, evaluations, training, project work)
- Ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively

This full-time fixed term post will be based at the Porterbrook Clinic on the same site as the Michael Carlisle Centre in the Nether Edge area of Sheffield. The Sheffield Gender Identity Clinic, also known as the Porterbrook Clinic, is a service for adults who are experiencinggender dysphoria. Our clinic is one of 11 gender identity clinics providing healthcare for adults, commissioned by NHS England.We are a national service and as such, much of our work takes place online via Attend Anywhere NHS platform. Our team is made up of administration staff, medical and nursing staff, and a range of other healthcare professionals, such as psychologists and speech and communication therapists. People who attend our service may be seeking a range of treatment options.
