Role summary
This role is for an experienced Senior Pharmacy Technician to work in the dispensary at Broadgreen site, Liverpool. You will supervise and train pharmacy staff, ensuring accurate and timely dispensing of medicines. The position requires strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with participation in evening, weekend, and bank holiday rotas. You will also be involved in stock control, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, co-ordinate, and supervise less experienced staff in the dispensary service.
- Accuracy check prescriptions and ensure training and development needs of staff are met.
- Maintain adequate stocks of medicines and complete daily stock reconciliation.
- Undertake line management responsibilities for staff appraisal, development, and absence.
- Participate in the development, review, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Supervise and participate in the training of all pharmacy dispensary staff, including assessing competence.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services/BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain
- Accuracy Checking Certificate
- Demonstrable expertise as a qualified Pharmacy Technician
- Significant experience of working in a hospital pharmacy
- Experience of education and training of pharmacy staff
- Participated in service audit
- Experience of pharmacy labelling and stock control systems
- Ability to work alone and be a good team player
- Ability to motivate self and others
- Understanding of maintaining a live, stock control system
- Knowledge of medicines management and relevant legislation and policies
