Role summary
Bolton Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Chronic Pain Sister or Charge Nurse to join its Chronic Pain Management Service. This role involves running outpatient Nurse Led clinics, providing reviews of various treatment modalities, and assisting patients with self-management strategies. The post requires working within Bolton Hospital and off-site in primary care settings, with support for professional development including Non-Medical Prescribing and Acupuncture qualifications. Excellent communication skills are essential for working with distressed patients and multidisciplinary teams.
Key responsibilities
- Run nurse led telephone review and Acupuncture clinics after training.
- Liaise with MDT members and other healthcare providers.
- Attend required CPD and training.
- Promote a pain management approach to enable patients to self-manage their pain.
- Be actively involved in audit and assist in service development projects.
- Triage referrals and liaise with other healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Essential criteria
- NMC Nurse Registration
- Diploma/Degree in Nursing
- Excellent levels of communication skills
- Significant experience as a registered nurse
Desirable criteria
- Undertaking or completed Non-Medical Prescribing course
- Post graduate qualification in pain management
- Experience of working within a Multidisciplinary team

Bolton Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Band 6, Chronic Pain Sister or Charge Nurse (33 hours per week) to join its Chronic Pain Management Service . You will be an integral team member of the Chronic Pain Management service, working alongside multidisciplinary members including Consultants and Allied health care professionals. You will be involved in the running of outpatient based Nurse Led clinics, providing review of various treatment modalities. One of your key roles will be in assisting patients in adopting self-management strategies through advice and education, to support evidenced based practice. Your role will require you to work within Bolton Hospital and also off site within an outpatient primary care setting.
The post will enable you to develop your knowledge and skills within chronic pain management; however, prior experience of working with chronic pain patients is desirable. If you are not already a Non-Medical Prescriber, you will be supported to undertake this qualification and the required Clinical skills course. Additionally, training will be required to enable you to undertake acupuncture by attending the Foundation in Acupuncture course and all development will be enhanced and supported utilising the RCN Pain Knowledge Fram
