Role summary
This role is for a Homebirth Midwife providing continuity-led care to a small cohort of women, from referral through to handover to the health visitor. You will provide specialist midwifery care for women planning homebirths and birth centre births, supporting choices and collaborating with consultant midwives for safety. The position involves a flexible shift pattern including long days, standard days, and night-on-call duty, with uplifted NHS pay for on-call shifts. The ideal candidate will be passionate about continuity of carer and personalised birth experiences, with recent intrapartum practice.
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife BSc or equivalent degree
- Evidence of professional progression
- NMC Midwife registration
- Mentorship
- KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE
- Evidence of completion of band 5 preceptorship programme
- Effective internet and IT skills
- IV drug administration
- Perineal suturing
- Waterbirth
- CTG interpretation
- Able to demonstrate awareness of research related to midwifery practice
- Positive attitude to change and inspires confidence
- Demonstrates innovation
- Cannulation and suturing knowledge and skills
