Role summary
This role involves participating in the dissection of histopathology specimens according to RCPath guidelines and departmental SOPs, including categories A-E. The post holder will also contribute to the development of the Digital Pathology system, focusing on AI algorithms and digital MDTs. Additionally, they will oversee the Special Stains section, creating training materials and participating in training. Routine BMS Band 7 duties may also be included.

Job summary
The post holder will participate in the dissection of categories A-E histopathology specimens as per RCPath guidelines and departmental SOPs and be included in the resident doctor dissection rota.
The post holder will work with the Head BMS in the development of the Digital Pathology system, working to introduce AI algorithms and digital MDT's.
The post holder will oversee the Special Stains section, participating in the creation of training and creation of training materials.
Additional duties may include routine BMS Band 7 duties
Main duties of the job
Participate in the dissection of categories A-E histopathology specimens as per RCPath
Macroscopically examine, describe and photograph specimens where necessary
Dissect and select relevant material for histological processing to enable accurate diagnosis of disease in the subsequent histology sections.
Select appropriate preparatory procedures to aid diagnostic interpretation e.g. decalcification etc.
Mentor or teach lower grade staff via tutorials, slide sessions and lectures
Participate in the planning, production and delivery of lectures required for the in-house training
Assesses the knowledge and proficiency of staff working in area of responsibility, highligh
