Role summary
This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the national and international landscape of commercial clinical trials within the UK. The Business Development Coordinator will support the Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC) Network, which coordinates 35 CRDCs across the UK, enhancing capacity and efficiency in commercial research delivery. The post holder will work closely with the Operational Program Manager, building relationships with CRDC operational teams and coordinating Network support for commercial trial activity. This new role offers development within a fast-paced research environment, requiring minimal supervision and strong time management.
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or have substantial relevant experience
Desirable criteria
- A higher-level degree in business or technical subject
- Recognised project management qualification (PRINCE2, PMP)
- Knowledge, experience and understanding of commercial research trial activity and environment in the UK
- Experience of brokering profitable deals, and the facilitation of business development
- Good understanding of and experience in business engagement and management
- Extensive experience working in a commercial environment with a range of businesses and organisations (corporate, public sector, SMEs, government)
- Extensive account/project management experience; providing excellent service to clients
- Understanding of the academic environment; working within a higher education or industry context
- Understanding of competitor analysis, market positioning and market segmentation
- Experience in commercial deal making: writing and pricing propositions and negotiating terms and conditions with partners and/or clients
- Experience of reviewing technical and legal documents and negotiating terms and conditions
- Communication and relationship skills
- Successful team working and people management
- Articulate and convincing communicator and presenter; confident at pitching
- Ability to build and nurture sound relationships and work collaboratively with academics, industry and a wide range of stakeholders
