Role summary
This role involves teaching and assessing various clinical and procedural skills to medical students and postgraduate multidisciplinary groups, both internal and external to the Trust. The post holder will work autonomously, planning and coordinating activities within the clinical skills suite, and supporting quality improvement. They will also act as a role model, promoting health and safety, and contributing to the development of educational materials.
Essential criteria
- oCurrent UK healthcare professional registration (NMC/HCPC) oRecognised teaching/assessing qualification. oFirst degree in relevant healthcare profession or working towards oEvidence of continuous professional development
Desirable criteria
- oAIM / ALERT instructor
- oSignificant post-registration clinical experience in an acute healthcare setting at Band 5. oEvidence of supporting change, service improvement, or educational activities. oExperience of working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- oPrevious experience of teaching multi professional groups of staff. oExperience of mentoring and assessing in clinical skills.
- oKnowledge of the curriculum requirements of undergraduate medical students oKnowledge of the practical clinical skills expected of post graduate nurses/doctors/AHPs oThe ability to develop and apply evidence based educational strategies & learning resources
- oUnderstanding and appreciation of personal training needs in relation to the post.
- oStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively. oAnalyses problems and implements effective and appropriate solutions. oAble to use initiative and make decisions. oAbility to organise workload, prioritise tasks and respond flexibly to service demands. oBe self-aware; ability to manage conflict, sensitive and challenging situations.
- oExperience in developing digital learning resources. oExperience in creating educational materials.

Job summary
The post holder will be working as part of the clinical skills team teaching and assessing multiple clinical / procedural skills to groups of medical students and postgraduate multidisciplinary client groups both internal and external to UHCW NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job
The role requires the post holder to work autonomously and flexibly with a high level of skill and concentration, responding as appropriate to unpredicted issues often within very tight deadlines to meet curriculum and service needs.
The post holder will be required to motivate and encourage collaborative working to support quality improvement and adherence to local and national standards of practice.
