Role summary
Maternity Support Workers assist with caring for women, babies, and their families throughout their maternity journey, working under supervision and within agreed guidelines. This role involves providing personalised and safe woman-centred care, building positive relationships, and ensuring all requirements are met with respect and dignity. You will assist in direct clinical care, perform relevant clinical skills, and recognise changes in mother or baby's condition, reporting concerns to the midwife. The role requires working within your competence and authority, adhering to protocols, and continuously developing your knowledge and practice.
Essential criteria
- 2 years experience
- experience working in the NHS
- Knowledge, Experience and Training required for the Post
- 5 GCSE's Grade C/5 including English and Maths or equivalent qualification
- Care Certificate
- Evidence of completion of MSW Level 2 and level 3 competencies or willingness to work towards level 3
Desirable criteria
- Level 3 NVQ/BTEC/A-Levels
- Previous experience as a Maternity Support Worker, Health Care Assistant or Support Worker in a similar role
- Competent in venepuncture
- Carry out clinical interventions as delegated by the multi professional team and as agreed by local protocols
- xperience of working with newborn infants
- Knowledge of NHS/ hospital systems
