Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and committed Health Care Assistant to join the nursing team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust's Sutton site. You will support patients in the Rapid Diagnostic Centre, Outpatients department, and phlebotomy service, working across various clinics and assisting with diagnostic and minor procedures. The position offers opportunities to develop existing skills and learn new ones in cancer patient care. The successful candidate will have experience in a healthcare setting and work full-time, Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 17:00.
Essential criteria
- NVQ in Health & Social Care
- GCSE/equivalent
- Cavendish Care Certificate or equivalent (completed)
- Knowledge of NEWs score
- Previous experience of working in a hospital setting or care setting
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of working with patients who are critically and chronically ill
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Good organisational skills
- Phlebotomy experience
- IT skills (ability to enter patient data onto computer records)
- Flexibility to meet service needs (eg shift work, covering other departments)

Job summary
The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is one of the leading cancer centres in the world and has an international reputation for the care and treatment it provides. The Royal Marsden serves a local, regional, national, and international population from two hospital sites, Chelsea, and Sutton.
Our new state-of-the-art Cancer centre opened in Sutton in July 2023. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Health Care Assistants to join our nursing team to help support our patients in the Rapid Diagnostic Centre, Outpatients department and phlebotomy service at the Sutton site.
Main duties of the job
You will work in a variety of clinics, including one-stop breast clinics, post-op clinics, urology clinics and many more. You will assist with diagnostic procedures and minor procedures within dermatology, plastics, sarcoma and breast. You will work in the phlebotomy room, ECG room and Observations room.
