Role summary

This role involves assessing care needs, developing and evaluating patient care programmes, and contributing to clinical governance. The post holder will manage a caseload of oncology patients, supervise junior staff, and teach qualified and unqualified staff. Job summary

The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, participating and contributing to the wider clinical governance agenda including service developments and flexible working to meet the needs of patients. Managing a case load of patients receiving a range of Oncology treatments and management of the associated complications.There is also a requirement to supervise junior staff and teach qualified and unqualified staff including basic and post basic students.Please be aware that you may be required to cover in Chemotherapy Service or Inpatients.

Main duties of the job

To lead and be directly involved with clinical and operational procedures with patients, carers and relatives. To undertake assessments and direct care plans for patients, relatives and carers, with the team for those needing in-patient care, daycare and respite support. To work closely with patients and their families. To plan with the patient a leave or discharge plan that is followed through for each individual involving both nurses, community servicesand other agencies where appropriate.
