Role summary
This role is for an Operational Coordinator within the Children's Hospital team, focusing on improving patient pathways and enhancing service delivery. The successful candidate will support operational performance, coordinate patient pathways to meet Trust and national standards, and line manage Specialty Administrative Team Leaders. It requires a proactive problem-solver with strong organisational skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Support operational delivery across services within the Children's Hospital, ensuring patient pathways meet Trust and national standards.
- Use RTT and operational data to monitor performance, validate pathways, identify improvement opportunities, and produce reports.
- Act as a key point of coordination, managing operational pressures, resolving ad hoc issues, and escalating risks.
- Provide leadership support through line management, staff development, and contribution to service improvement projects.

- Educated to degree level or possessing an equivalent level of experience, training, and knowledge
- Competent in use of IT systems. Good level of keyboard skills including relevant software packages (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Previous NHS administration experience. Excellent working knowledge of eCamis system and relevant Trust and NHS procedures
- Ability to analyse and interpret performance report information
- Organisational knowledge of admin procedures and working processes
- Experience in a supervisory role
- Ability to work under own initiative
- Proven ability to work to deadlines, prioritise and multitask
Desirable criteria
- Courses/further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development
- Patient Administration System (for example eCamis, LUNA, CHARTS) trained.
- Service Improvement training
- Knowledge of medical terminology
