Role summary

The Acute Paediatric Liaison Health Visitor is a Registered Nurse with Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visitor) qualification working within the acute hospital setting at Croydon University Hospital. Key responsibilities

  • Review and assess Emergency Department attendances for children and young people aged 0-19 years, identifying safeguarding concerns, vulnerabilities, and unmet health needs.
  • Review, process and document emergency department attendances and safeguarding referrals, ensuring timely and appropriate information sharing.
  • Function as a visible safeguarding presence within the emergency Department, providing advice, support, and expert guidance to acute clinical staff.
  • Promote a Think Family, trauma-informed and non-stigmatising approach when working with children, young people, parents, and carers.
  • Ensure accurate, timely and confidential record-keeping using Croydon Health Services systems.
  • Deliver health promotion advice to children, young people and parents including MECC.
