Role summary

Key responsibilities
- Provide clinical, operational, and professional leadership within the Maternity Triage Service.
- Coordinate the day-to-day management of maternity triage, overseeing clinical activity, patient flow, staffing, and risk.
- Act as the clinical lead for the Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System (BSOTS).
- Support the implementation of the NHS England Maternity Triage Specification.
- Contribute to governance, audit, quality improvement, workforce development, and service transformation activities.
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife with current NMC registration
- Evidence of training and competence in maternity triage assessment and escalation.
- Evidence of leadership development.
- Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor qualification (or willingness to undertake).
- Significant relevant clinical and management experience at band 6 or above in a range of care settings of at least 3 years port registration.
- Experience in service user feedback including analysing data.
- Experience of managing patient flow, acuity and clinical prioritisation.
Desirable criteria
- Leadership or Management Qualification
- Quality Improvement qualification or experience.
- Training in BSOTS.
- Experience in complaint investigation and response
- Experience leading change management projects.
