Role summary
This role involves leading the electrical and mechanical engineering section, supervising Estates Technicians, and acting as an Authorised Person for Low Voltage Electrical systems. You will manage work allocation, ensure compliance with safety procedures, and oversee the quality of maintenance work. The position requires a flexible approach and a good understanding of various trades and plant operations.
Essential criteria
- Minimum equivalent experience recognized and registered engineering apprenticeship or NVQ equivalent in a Mechanical or electrical services discipline.
- Professional knowledge acquired through degree plus specialist knowledge, or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through courses and experience.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of: Health Technical Memorandums 06-02 - Electrical safety guidance for low voltage systems 03-01 Specialised ventilation for healthcare premises. Knowledge of water Hygiene 02-01 - Medical Gas pipeline systems 08-03 - Management of bedhead services in the health sector 04-01 - Safe water in healthcare premises
- Must have a full driving licence. To wear protective clothing/uniform as required Able to travel to other Trust sites when required.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety, current Electrical/Mechanical/building services legislation. Recent practical working experience or mechanical plant. Experience of working within a building services team. Previous supervisory position. Working in a multi- Skilled team) Ability to interpret technical schematics Recent practical working Provide technical advice to workforce teams. Demonstrate a level of Judgement across a range of Estates issues considering legislation H&S and conflicting demands of the Trust

Job summary
Responsible for the electrical & mechanical engineering section including supporting the first line management of directly employed staff.
Act as Authorised Person in relation to Low Voltage Electrical systems.
To supervise the Estates Technicians ensuring compliance with Trust safety procedures and standards.
Issue work to team members, utilising the maintenance management system, to ensure breakdown and planned maintenance works are carried out efficiently and effectively. Ensure that the maintenance management system is kept updated and accurately records work to be done and completed works.
Responsibe for checking the quality of work carried out by in-house directly employed labour (DEL) maintenance team and external contractors and ensuring that appropriate remedial works are carried out and job sheets are correctly completed and returned to the Helpdesk in a timely manner.
Adopt a flexible approach to works and a good understanding of other trades, services and plant.
