Role summary
This role is for a highly motivated Switchboard Manager to join the Property and Facilities Management Team. You will be responsible for the efficient running of the Switchboard team, providing management and support to operators, and ensuring a high-quality service for patients, visitors, and staff. The position involves managing switchboard operations at Wexham Park Hospital and Frimley Park Hospital, acting as a vital part of the 24/7 communications hub, especially in emergencies. The ideal candidate will be calm, organised, and responsive.
Key responsibilities
- Proficiently operate the computer based switchboard covering the full range of operator duties.
- Monitor the efficient operation of the switchboard service and collate monthly performance data.
- Deal with problems, considering options and consequences, then deciding on and implementing appropriate actions.
- Provide suggestions and changes for departmental protocols and procedures.
- Assist the Associate Director of Soft FM in managing the switchboard service to deliver a high quality and cost-effective service.
- Review and manage all complaints received, analysing trends and ensuring effective processes for change.
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent experience in switchboard or contact centre
- Previous experience managing telecoms
- Demonstrative technical experience in software applications
- Working within multidisciplinary teams
- People management experience
- Working with communication systems and information networks
- IT Systems management
- Strong knowledge of Telephone systems and bleep services
- Good problem solving and negotiating skills
- Good interpersonal skills and able to interact with a range of people including non-technical users, managers, suppliers, contractors, facilities management and medical staff
- Able to record complex technical details accurately and able to document technical procedures
- Able to plan and organise a number of activities and continually reprioritise to meet changing deadlines and in response to unforeseen problems or events
- Excellent communication skills and able to liaise effectively with staff at all levels
- Competent with using, managing and training multiple IT Systems
