Role summary
This role is for a Band 6 Clinical Sister/Charge Nurse on Farries Ward, a 22-bedded unit with dedicated haematology and elderly medicine beds. The successful candidate will contribute to developing the inpatient haematology service and improving patient experience. It involves both clinical and management duties, supporting the Ward Manager in delivering high-quality, cost-effective care. The Trust is rated outstanding by CQC and offers professional development opportunities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide clinical and professional leadership and support to all non-medical staff in the ward, ensuring nursing practice is based on current and best evidence.
- Take responsibility for own personal and professional development, maintaining clinical credibility and competence at all times.
- Accurately undertake full health assessments, interpreting clinical signs of patients, results and investigations and make recommendations for patient management.
- Promote patient and carers involvement in care planning, delivery and evaluation, ensuring junior staff develop the necessary skills to do this.
- Co-ordinate clinical activities within the unit and have responsibility for shift management.
- Contribute to the planning, monitoring and control of the wards resources, by ensuring that the wards resources are optimised and that expenditure on pay and non-pay are kept within the allocated budget.
Essential criteria
- First level RN
- Diploma / Degree in Professional Nursing/Health Studies
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- AIM / ILS Trained
- Significant NHS experience
- Wide range of Extended Skills

Job summary
South Warwickshire Foundation Trust are excited to be advertising for a band 6 clinical sister/charge nurse for an individual who wants to join the growing team on Farries Ward.
We are currently developing our inpatient haematology service on Farries ward and are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse to help continue the development of the service and improve the patient experience.
We are a 22 bedded ward, 8 of these beds are dedicated haematology beds and we are hoping to expand this in the future. The remaining 14 beds are made up of elderly medicine and isolation side rooms.
We are inviting applications from nurses who are seeking to expand their knowledge and skills within Haematology and elderly care. You will have the opportunity to work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team and you will be supported with your professional development. We offer a wide range of clinical training and accredited courses, both in-house and post graduate courses at university.
