To provide specialist clinical nursing care, support & education to new & existing clients of the Trafalgar Clinic or community/outreach based projects. This will include nurse led sexual health clinics with the use of Patient Group Directions/ Independent Nurse Prescribing to provide care at the point of contact.
Main duties of the job
To work as an advanced practitioner and effectively deliver an expert nursing service within the GUM and HIV service.
Provide GUM and HIV specialist nursing care and advice Trust-wide including ward visits where appropriate. Demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills
To have a sound theoretical and practical knowledge of GUM and HIV and related issues, including a comprehensive knowledge of Anti-Retro-Virals (ARV), with a commitment to keeping up to date with changing treatments in HIV.
To identify, manage and, where appropriate, refer patients with acute and chronic GUM and HIV-related issues to members of the multidisciplinary team.
