Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic Band 6 MRI Radiographer to join a dynamic team across three sites: Royal Preston Hospital, Chorley District Hospital, and a Community Diagnostic Centre. The post involves performing a diverse range of MR examinations for adult and paediatric patients in various settings, including outpatient, inpatient, and emergency departments. The successful candidate will work with multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality patient care and diagnostic imaging. Participation in an on-call service and extended days is required.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake radiographic duties across 3 sites within Lancashire Teaching Hospital Trust, ensuring high standards of image quality and patient care.
- Comply with current MHRA guidelines to ensure patient, visitor, and staff safety within the MR controlled area.
- Manage workflow for out-patients, in-patients, and emergency department patients.
- Participate in departmental audits, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff and students.
- Participate in an on-call service and extended days.
Essential criteria
- Experience in cross-sectional imaging
- Involvement with QA.
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
- Experience of audit.
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
- BSc Diagnostic Radiography
- HCPC Registered
- Substantial post qualification experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of MR advanced neurotechniques as applicable to role
- Experience of paediatric Imaging
- Knowledge of MHRA 2008.
- NHS experience
- Attendance at study days/conferences

If you are hardworking, friendly, professional and have patients at the centre of your working practice then this could be the job for you! We are looking for an enthusiastic band 6 MRI radiographer to work within the fantastic MRI team at Lancashire Teaching Hospital Trust.
This dynamic job role will consist of working across 3 different sites, Royal Preston Hospital (RPH), Chorley District Hosptial (CDH) and a Community Diagnostic Centre mobile scanner. The MRI department at RPH is a bright and spacious building which provides a suite of 4 scanners including a 3T Siemens Skyra scanner, 2 x 1.5T Philips Ingenia scanners and a soon a Esaote Magnifico 0.7T open scanner. The CDH department houses a new Ingenia Ambition helium free 1.5T scanner.
You will join a welcoming MRI team who have continuously worked hard to receive 7 consecutive GOLD star ratings in recent STAR (Safety triangulation accreditation review) visits.
In this post, you will perform a diverse range of MR examinations for both adult and paediatric patients in outpatient, inpatient and emergency department settings. You will interact with a number of multi-disciplinary teams, such as the theatre team for patients undergoing MRI under anaesthetic and the pacing team, for patients with a cardiac implantable electronic device undergoing MRI.
