Role summary

This is a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover post for a Specialist Sonographer in General Ultrasound. The role involves providing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services, interpreting examinations, and producing reports to support timely diagnosis and patient management. You will contribute to service delivery, continuous improvement, education, and training within a multidisciplinary team. Essential criteria

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound
  • Appropriate Professional Registration e.g. HCPC, RCT or NMC Registration
  • Appropriate relevant Degree or equivalent
  • Appropriate post qualification experience in an ultrasound department
  • Relevant clinical courses
  • Completed the preceptorship and capability framework for sonographers'
  • Quality assurance supervision and practice
  • Sound knowledge of all areas of Governance including H&S, COSHH, Manual Handling
  • Experience of teaching, mentoring and supporting colleagues training and development
  • Leadership or management course or qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Specialist Sonographer in General Ultrasound, providing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services and contributing to excellent patient care.

This 12-month fixed-term maternity cover post offers the opportunity to work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, using your clinical expertise to deliver accurate examinations and reports that support timely diagnosis and patient management.

You will contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of a safe, effective and patient-centred service, supporting education and training, quality assurance and the development of ultrasound practice.

You will report to the Lead Superintendent and work closely with sonographers, clinicians and the wider multidisciplinary team to support service objectives and positive outcomes for patients.
