Role summary

This role is for an enthusiastic and organised Lead Pharmacy Technician to join a professional team within Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust. The position involves leading support for specialist services workstreams, including medicines safety and governance, expenditure monitoring, and supporting services with medicines supply. The successful candidate will contribute to improving community-based care and aligning services with the new Neighbourhood Model of care delivery.

Essential criteria

  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Accredited qualification in Medicines Management or historical equivalent (Regionally Accredited Consultation Skills plus Medicines Management Skills) or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • Practice supervisor qualification or equivalent qualification.
  • An educational supervisor qualification would be an advantage
  • Post qualification medicines optimisation experience in a hospital or clinical setting
  • Experience of undertaking audit and responding to outcomes
  • Experience in Primary/Community and secondary care pharmacy services
  • Knowledge and Skills
  • A full, valid UK driving licence or a full driving licence issued by an EU country (not exchanged from a non-EU country) and the ability to travel independently are essential for this role.
  • Able to prioritise service delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures.
  • Sound communication skills in order to understand and communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work effectively with a variety of people at all organisational levels across different sectors
  • Able to use IT systems and databases.
  • Knowledge of the theories of good leadership.
  • Able to advise, instruct, train, assess and appraise others
  • Having an awareness of developments within the NHS would be an advantage as well as an understanding of Integrated Neighbourhood Teams and NICE guidance.
  • Able to manage time effectively, be able to prioritise appropriately and work under pressure to meet deadlines

Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare or working on the Staff Bank within these organisations. Nursing and AHP vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses/AHPs.

  • Medicines expenditure monitoring and analysis
  • Supporting services with medicines supply, adherence to formularies and identifying efficiencies
  • Patient Group Directions, Protocols, Policies and SOPs.
