Role summary
As a Senior Healthcare Assistant on the Orthopaedic Trauma Unit, you will provide high-quality, compassionate care under the supervision of Registered Practitioners. Your role involves supporting patients with dignity, noticing and reporting changes in their condition, and performing clinical skills once trained. You will also guide junior colleagues and contribute to a supportive team environment focused on patient well-being and continuous development.
Essential criteria
- Successful completion of Trust's Band 2 Developmental Passport or ability to demonstrate equivalent level of competence
Desirable criteria
- NVQ / QCF level 3 in Health or Health and Social Care
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Demonstrates an empathetic, caring and sensitive approach to patients, relatives and carers
- Venepuncture/ ECG/ cannulation/ Theatre escort training
- Experience as Healthcare Assistant within an acute hospital environment or equivalent setting
- Trauma & orthopaedic experience
- Education

The Orthopaedic Trauma Unit is looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals to join our friendly, professional and successful team as Healthcare Assistants.
We are able to offer opportunities for development with weekly ward teaching covering a range of topics.
We also offer the opportunity to undertake additional roles within the ward, such as link nurse roles, which will be supported with additional training.
We are looking for candidates with a desire to provide compassionate support and care, good communication skills, a flexible approach and enthusiasm to work within the team.
