Role summary

This role is for a Healthcare Support Worker within the Community Paediatric Medical Service, providing specialised care for children and young people with developmental needs. The post involves assisting in clinics, conducting assessments, and offering clinical and administrative support to medical and nursing staff. Services are delivered in community clinics, special schools, and occasionally hospitals. The successful candidate will work 22.5 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in Community Paediatric Medical Service clinics where children of varying abilities and needs are assessed.
  • Assist in assessments as requested by the Paediatrician (training will be provided for relevant assessments).
  • Provide clinical support and administrative assistance to medical and nursing staff in the Community Paediatric Medical Service.
  • Accurately use the Electronic Patient Records System and complete various administrative tasks.
  • Work closely with other services such as GPs, Therapy Services, Education, and Children's Social Care.

Essential criteria

  • *Educated to NVQ Level 3; Health and Social Care Diploma or equivalent
  • *Good general education including English and Maths
  • *Full UK Driving License and access to a car for work use
  • *Evidence of working with children and young people
  • *Evidence of dealing with highly sensitive information
  • *Evidence of working in challenging environments, sometimes managing complex situations
  • *Evidence of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • *Evidence of ability to work without direct supervision
  • *Evidence of organising and supporting clinic processes

Desirable criteria

  • *Good knowledge of IT systems

Job summary

We are seeking applicants for the position of Healthcare Support Worker within the Community Paediatric Medical Service, covering areas such as Southampton and New Forest.

The Community Paediatric Medical Service provides specialised care for children and young people with a variety of developmental needs, including physical and/or learning disabilities. This includes comprehensive medical assessments, investigations, diagnoses, treatments, and interventions tailored to individual needs.

While most services are provided in community clinics, children may also be seen in special schools and, on occasion, in hospital settings.
