Role summary
This role is for an experienced and motivated HCPC registered podiatrist to join the Community Podiatry Service as a Highly Specialist Podiatrist, covering Knowsley and St Helens. The post holder will be responsible for clinical service delivery, providing visible leadership, and ensuring efficient, effective, and patient-centred care. It involves leading the podiatry team in managing complex patients, developing specialist care programmes, and implementing service innovations. Regular travel across multiple sites is required.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high-level and complex triage, clinical assessment, diagnostics, treatment, and evaluation of health and well-being needs.
- Provide leadership, promote a learning culture, lead service innovations, and demonstrate high-level problem-solving.
- Ensure excellence in service delivery through personal and service development, underpinned by evidence-based practice and research.
- Drive innovation and manage change processes to ensure services are flexible and proactive.
- Be responsible for specialist assessment of complex care needs, developing, implementing, and evaluating care programmes with a high degree of autonomy.
- Train, supervise, case manage, and performance manage staff and students.
Essential criteria
- Degree/ Diploma in Podiatric Medicine
- Master's degree / Module /post graduate qualification in relevant area of clinical expertise (or working towards) / equivalent knowledge and experience to Masters level
- Up to date HCPC Registration
- Evidence of up-to-date CPD Portfolio
- POM-A / LA certificate
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to manage own caseload and prioritise work
- Ability to communicate complex information to patients, carers and staff
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to utilise assessment skills and instrumentation effectively
- Presentation skills
- Evidence of expertise in podiatry field
- Supervision of staff and students
- Effective change management and problem-solving experience
- Audit and research practices relevant to clinical area
- Experience and knowledge in the management of a wide variety of complex podiatry conditions
