Role summary
This role involves supporting autistic adults, aged 16 or 18 upwards, and those awaiting autism assessment. You will work in partnership with local autism hubs and third-sector organizations to deliver improved community support. The position requires providing follow-up support to bespoke interventions and offering basic information and guidance to other health professionals. You will also help reduce barriers for autistic adults accessing mainstream services and encourage reasonable adjustments.
Essential criteria
- NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience - lived experience will be considered
- Willing to work towards NVQ3 or equivalent
- Knowledge and Expertise
- Knowledge of autism and associated traits
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Mental Health issues Knowledge of ADHD and other neurodevelopmental conditions
- Experience of working with or supporting adults
- Experience of working in a team setting AND/OR
- actively participating in a group setting AND/OR
- advocating on behalf of other people
- Experience of working in a health, care or education setting

Job summary
We have two exciting opportunities for Outreach and Support Workers within our Adult Autism Service, who will be based between Eastway Building, Countess of Chester Health Park and Beech House, Macclesfield.
You will be working to support adults from the age of 16 or 18 years upwards (depending on locality) who are autistic or who are on the waiting list for an autism assessment.
These posts will work directly in partnership with local autism hubs and relevant third sector partners (charities, community interest and not-for-profit organisations) to develop and deliver improved support in the community under the direction of qualified practitioners and provide follow-up support to bespoke interventions.
We would welcome applications from people with lived experience and will look to offer support with the application and recruitment process.
These are part-time post for 22.5 hours a week (3 days).
