Role summary
This role is for a Band 5 Community Mental Health Nurse to join the South Glos. recovery north team. The successful applicant will act as a keyworker for service users with serious mental illness in the community, undertaking assessments, developing care plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions. Newly qualified nurses are welcome and will receive a full preceptorship programme. The position involves working independently, demonstrating strong decision-making skills, and utilizing IT systems for documentation.
Essential criteria
- Essential knowledge, skills and experience
- Diploma / Degree and registration with the NMC
- Demonstrates a good understanding of recovery principles and the role of secondary mental health services in the delivery of care
- Able to articulate a sound understanding of the relevant legal frameworks/legislation including CPA process, Mental Health Act , Mental Capacity Act, and Safeguarding.
- Demonstrates significant experience of assessing risk and developing risk management strategies
- Demonstrates post-registration experience gained working in front-line mental health services, undertaking assessment and delivering interventions.
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrates experience of supervising others, monitoring their performance and ensuring delivery of activity.
- Ability to prioritise, particularly when working under pressure
- Well developed verbal communication skills, able to engage effectively with people at all levels including when a more assertive approach is needed.
- Empathy for individuals who have experienced mental health problems and ability to cope with behaviour which may be challenging at times.
- Mobile with the facility to move quickly across a geographically dispersed area with limited access to public transport.

Job summary
A vacancy has arisen for a Band 5 qualified practitioner to join South Glos. recovery north team at The Elms. Your role will involve keyworker for service user with serious mental illness in the community.

The team provides a range of key interventions which can include:
- To provide assessment, formulation, treatment & therapeutic support for adults of working age with severe & enduring mental health and complex emotional needs.
- Pharmacological interventions - medication management, prescribing and monitoring.
- Psychosocial and psychological interventions.
- Working in collaboration with AWP MDT and non AWP services.
- Statutory work under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
- Working in partnership to promote safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and public protection.
- Recognition of carer's needs, signposting and help in accessing other services.
