Role summary

This role is for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the Camden Learning Disabilities Service, covering an 8-month maternity leave. The post holder will manage a complex caseload involving both dysphagia and communication, conducting assessments, interventions, and contributing to risk assessments and clinical pathway meetings. They will work autonomously and be supervised by a senior SLT.

  • Communication caseload: assessment, diagnosis and intervention planning
  • Training; dysphagia training, person focused training relating to dysphagia or communication
  • Clinical Pathways - to represent SLT on delegated clinical pathways such as dementia or complex health and offer advice and support to MDT colleagues
  • Supervision of Band 3 SLT assistant

Essential criteria

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • NQT competencies passed including dysphagia
  • Evidence of working with people who have a learning disabilities
  • Working with people who have dysphagia and LD
  • evidence of assessment and intervention for both dysphagia and communication
  • Understanding health inequalities of people with learning disabilities and SLT role within this
  • Clinical assessment tools and interventions

Job summary
